Extravagant hats are pretty much obligatory at Royal Ascot and this year was bigger, better and more flamboyant than ever. Structure was the key for the hair this year, as it was used to hold all kinds of weird and wonderful hats, fascinators and hair pieces – made even popular since the Royal Wedding!

One of my favourite looks from this year’s Royal Ascot  has to be ‘the birds’ – such a unique and original style! Here the ladies show how it’s done by wearing their hair in different, unique styles whilst still looking great in their fascinators. To team your hair with such a grand piece, my tip is to keep it natural to focus all the attention to your fascinator. To secure your fascinator, I recommend backcombing a small section of the hair to where your want to secure it to and gently slide the piece in. If extra security is needed, use hair grips of a similar colour to your own hair in a criss-cross motion to ensure that it most certainly will not move!

Out of the six lovely ladies, the one that stood out the most was the lady in the red dress. Her hair was effortless, classy and overall complimented her fantastic hair piece. This would be a great and effective look to recreate yourself at home, whether going to a wedding, the races or any special event this summer.

Simply begin by spraying Regis Designline Hot Stop into the hair. This is one of the hottest style primers on the market and is a great heat protector that also adds shine. The can is aerosol, which disperses the product into a fine mist before enveloping the hair in a luscious scent. Then, starting at the nape, take small, fine sections of the hair, roughly 2cmx3cm and place the GHD stylers around the root section of the hair. Turn 180 degrees and glide through to the tips. This will create a ribbon effect curl. Once the full head is complete, simply run your fingers through and begin to secure that all important hair fascinator. Once secured,  fix the hair into place with a fine mist of Regis Designline Volumising spray.

Also standing out was Holly Valance, who attended the Royal Ascot with her billionaire boyfriend Nick Candy. A very simple side chignon teamed with a gorgeous LBD. Elegant and classy, yet very on trend . Sweeping the hair to the side gives a sleek asymmetric effect to the style and teamed with a black net detailed fascinator this gives a hint of 1940s, which coincides with GHD’s Glamour Era, featuring Katy Perry supporting the ad campaign.

But my favourite style of all the attendees of Royal Ascot was that of Carole Middleton. After arriving with the Queen, she certainly shows us how its done in this beautiful outfit, hat and pearls all topped of with very loose natural hair. Carole shows that less really can be more at such a prestigious event. Truly beautiful Carole!
