Last night finally saw the arrival of the Baftas and despite the rain the hair certainly sparkled! On the red carpet, presenting for the BBC, Edith Bowman looked absolutely amazing with a Celtic inspired up ‘do with her hair French plaited in a spiral formation – simple, yet very effective.

Emma Watson, who presented the Best Film award this year, looked super chic! Emma looked fantastic and feminine with her chic elfin crop and her cute, nude colour dress complemented her look perfectly.

Big hair was also definitely on the cards this year, as Helena Bonham Carter went for another up ‘do. Opting for a relaxed approach, her look was effortless yet still eccentric! To finish off her style, Helen chose a simple black clip to fixate her up ‘do into place.

Emma Stone, who made her film debut in 2009 as Jules in Superbad, has gone from strength to strength since then and was up for the Rising Star award. Not only has her acting career blossomed, but so has her hair! Her brand new hot and fresh look really was an eye catcher on the red carpet. Very Marilyn Monroe inspired, with a unique Emma twist!

Gemma Artertonn was also up for Rising Star award and looked very classy and on trend with a centre parting – my hot tip for 2011! A beautiful chocolate brown shade caressed her long wavy locks, accentuated by ultimate lush red lips – gorgeous!

All in all, the red carpet hair at this year’s Baftas was very glamorous! The dresses were amazing and the hair was very ballerina inspired – a big trend this season! With buns, chignons and curls tumbling slightly to the side, the classic look was fused with individuality for the red carpet. Thandie Newton was the epitome of this look and looked absolutely stunning in her red dress!

In other news, Fearne Cotton has also changed her hair yet again, opting this time for slightly darker roots with lighter ends. To achieve Fearne’s colour, her stylist has stated that he used the Atomic technique which involves taking sections of hair and blending tones of honey, champagne and toffee. To finish off the look he used icy cool tones of blonde on top – very glamzon chic!

However, it’s not just the ladies who have been changing their look with their locks this week. The nation’s favourite duo, Ant and Dec, have changed their colour by opting instead for a deep, dark brown – very cute indeed!

5. In 5th place we have everyone’s favourite Geordie, Cheryl Cole. This year we have seen Cheryl’s hair go from brunette, to red and back to brunette again! The lush chocolate brown tone of Cheryl’s locks truly matches her complexion and complements her classic style. Apart from a few hair disasters (don’t even get us started on the Princess Leia inspired ‘do…), Cheryl has generally stuck to the big, bouncy blow dries and glamourous up ‘dos. Well done for staying fabulous Ms Cole!

4. In 4th place we have Cheryl’s fashion rival, Dannii Minogue. This year Dannii has shown us just how versatile short hair can be and has worn her locks in various glamourous up ‘dos (we especially love her statement low bun and fierce quiff!). Dannii has also experimented with colour this year going from a dark brunette, to a beautiful sun kissed colour with honey blonde highlights, to a lush chocolate brown. Dannii’s style is classic, glamorous and sexy and we can’t wait for next year’s X Factor just to see what she does with her locks!

3. Red has been huge this season, so coming in at third place is one of our favourite red head’s… Rihanna. To see Rihanna bring back red with ultimate attitude is so refreshing! Rihanna’s hair oozes sex appeal, and all of us here at Regis HQ are eagerly anticipating to see what 2011 has in store for Rihanna’s locks!

2. In second place we have Emma Watson. This year the Harry Potter star kissed her bushy bangs good bye and opted for a simplistic yet stylish pixie cut. Short hair has been increasingly popular this season with the likes of Carey Mulligan and Katie Waissel ditching their long locks. This cut suits Emma’s face shape perfectly and brings out her features in a way long hair never could. Miss Watson we salute you for going for the chop!

1. Now it’s time for our winner… Frankie Sanford! Opting for the most wanted hair cut of the year, Frankie has teamed her crop with a sexy, side-swept fringe which adds great texture and movement to her locks. Frankie’s ‘do is sultry and chic and most certainly bang on trend! This cut is also very versatile which allows Frankie to experiment and have fun with her locks. Congratulations Miss Sanford… You have the best ‘do of 2010!

Nonetheless, amidst the broken cobbles and twisted tram wreckage, some of our favourite Corrie characters are still managing to keep their tresses looking trim!

First we have Carla Gordon, the feisty owner of Underworld, played by Alison King. Carla normally wears her raven haired locks down, in a very natural and sensual way. Carla’s ‘do is always full of lush layers, which makes Carla’s hair classy with just the right amount of movement and volume. Even amidst the devastation, Corrie’s favourite love-to-hate character still looks sophisticated and sultry!

Next up is brash Becky McDonald, played by actress Katherine Kelly. Becky’s long blonde hair had become her trademark, but earlier this year she ditched the extensions and opted instead for punchy new bob! Becky’s new bob teamed with a slight side fringe suits her face shape and adds a touch of class to the character! Becky’s still wild at heart though, as seen in last night’s episode when she was robbing ‘The Kabin’ to pay off her awful sister! Nonetheless we still love her and her new ‘do!

Finally we have Michelle Connor, played by Kym Marsh of Hear’Say fame. But the question on all our lips here at Regis HQ is where was Michelle last night?! She would have surely added a touch class to the carnage! Michelle, like Becky, wears her locks in a lush bob! Michelle often wears her locks straight, which suits the style perfectly as her hair always looks healthy and super shiny! Off screen Kym Marsh often opts for feminine 50s inspired waves, which just shows how versatile this style is!

The final episode of Coronation Street’s anniversary week airs tonight and all of us here at Regis HQ will certainly be tuning in to find out what happens (and of course to spy on the hair….)
