All week we’ve been fawning over recent shots of the ever-lovely Dawn Porter, a real hair and fashion favourite of ours. Her signature style is unmistakably stylish in its blend of vintage influence, with quirky little modern touches here and there. Be it hair, clothes or accessories, everything about Dawn’s natural style has a knowing nod to classic eras.

Of course, for us it’s all about that fabulous bob hair cut, sleek and coiffured like our new season style The Graduate. But what made the ever-changing, yet always present bob cut stand out to Regis this season?

What we love about Dawn’s take on the bob is the retro chic balanced with modern edges, something our Creative Directors were really excited about when choosing The Graduate as one of the season’s signature looks.

With this year seeing the sad passing of one of hairstyling’s true greats, Vidal Sassoon, there’s few better ways to pay homage to his stunning legacy that celebrating his influence.

Last year EastEnders fans were in shock when they saw the fiery Roxy Mitchell, played by Rita Simons, finally ditching her blonde extensions and opt for a punchy new bob!

The 50s inspired cut is a fresh, new approach to this season’s killer look. The beautiful blonde tones bring out Roxy Mitchell’s piercing blue eyes whilst the new length and soft layers subdue her usual bold appearance. The cut accentuates Roxy’s neckline and brings out her features more than the blonde extensions ever did.

Are You a Diamond, Heart Or Oval? Choosing The Best Hairstyle for Your Face Shape

Here at Regis we know that choosing a new hairstyle can be difficult… That’s why we’ve asked one of our resident hair experts Deepa Tailor, a stylist at our Kingston Upon Thames salon and a member of the Regis Artistic Team, for her top tips on choosing the best style for your face shape!

“If you have a diamond shaped face, like Anne Hathaway, simplicity is the key! Ask your Regis stylist for your length to be on or just below your shoulders. A long side fringe and minimal layers also look great with this face shape too.

Now for all of you out there who have heart shaped faces, the best look for you to go for is a short layered bob with a strong, sweeping fringe. One of our favourite hearts out there is Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays, and this style looks great on her!

If like Cheryl Cole you have a round shape face, ask your Regis stylist to create layers around your face. This will then soften and frame the area around your cheeks. Another great tip is to go for a light, layered fringe as this will add a great touch to the finished look and enhance the eyes!

The classic bob is entering a new womanly phase and this is great look for anyone who has a square face shape. A grown out bob which delicately tucks under the jaw-line, with a few layers for lift and movement, will look fabulous if you’re a square like Emma Bunton.

Finally we have the oval. This is best shape to have as any hairstyle will suit you, whether you opt for long, short or cropped hair! A typical oval face shape is Victoria Beckham, as she has had extremely varied looks over the years. Victoria Beckham has rocked the bob, the crop and even long, luscious bouncy locks – everything looks fabulous on her!”

Weekly Wonderlocks

It’s that time of the week again at Regis HQ - yes it’s time for Weekly Wonderlocks! We asked the Regis Artistic Team for their thoughts on what’s been happening in the world of hair during the last week…

Jennifer Aniston has completely disowned the Rachel Green style which she rocked through several seasons of Friends. Known to hairdressers everywhere as ‘The Rachel’, this short, layered ‘do was a must have in the ‘90s! Described in an interview for Allure Magazine on sale in the US tomorrow as “the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen”, it’s clear that Jennifer is no longer a fan! Opting now for a blonder, softer and more layered cut, Jennifer has certainly stepped away from ‘The Rachel’ and her locks look great!

Next we come to Dancing on Ice! This weekend saw Holly Willoughby wear her locks in soft loose waves which she half pinned up. This look was incredibly angelic, elegant and perfectly co-ordinated with her outfit! Chloe Madeley’s hair also looked stunning this weekend as she opted for a polished up ‘do.

However the real hair winner of the show was Alexandra Schauman, Dominic Cook’s partner. Alexandra wore her hair in tousled curls, loosely pinned up to create that fairy tale Rapunzel look. Alexandra then added diamonty hair jewels to her ‘do, for extra femininity and that all important showbiz sparkle!

Another one of our Dancing on Ice favourites is Kerry Katona. Kerry has come a long way in the past few months… She’s completely revamped her image, is in fabulous shape and is still loved by the public as she got voted through to the top 12 of Dancing on Ice. Earlier in January, Kerry stepped out to attend the ‘Morning Glory’ premier at London’s Leicester Square. Wearing a sexy off-the-shoulder black cocktail dress, Kerry showed off her new bob in style.
