Our Managing Director, Jackie Lang, was there among the audience to revel in one of the biggest events of any hair professional’s calendar. Here’s what she had to say:

“First off, what a fantastic night! Once again I was reminded of why I love working in the hairdressing industry. Being surrounded by so much creativity, passion, and professionalism is all you could ask, and it was great to catch up with colleagues both new and old. I have to say the standard of work this year was phenomenal. The quality of hair on show was amazing, as was the photography, styling and make up. I really admire all of the finalists and their support teams for the effort and hard work they put in to get that far.

The buzz in the room was electric and when the finalists and winners were announced I thought the roof was going to blow off! I loved how Gok Wan articulated the strong relationship between hair and fashion and David Walliams as host was brilliant. All in all a wonderful night… and a true showcase for our wonderful industry. “

And with the party season coming up we all want our hair to be looking it’s best so I want to share my top tips for healthy, fantastic looking hair.

KEEP YOUR HAIR AT ITS HEALTHIEST

If you like playing with colour as much as I do you can run the risk of dry, unhappy hair. I also achieve my signature style by using heat styling, which can put hair under a lot of stress and strain.Thankfully it only takes a few simple, but essential steps to keep your locks looking thick and shiny every day.

Before using tongs to achieve my favourite loose curls, I always, always use a heat protection spray! Going without might be tempting, but such naughty behavior only ends in tears, believe me. Regis’ own Designline Thermal Boost Spray works wonders, giving both protection and volume in one handy product.

LOVE YOUR STYLIST

Regular trims are not only important for keeping your style looking its best, something I can’t do withoutfor TV appearances, but it’s essential to hair health too. In fact, if you choose just one of my tips to keep your hair looking fab, it should be finding a hairstylist you love and visiting them regularly – they make you feel so fantastic I don’t see why you’d stay away!

I’m really proud to be the Face of Regis Salons because they’re truly experts, with the best stylists around for cut, colour and styling.  With many stylists awarded Wella’s Master Colour Expert, they’ve got the proven skills to make each guest look and feel their best every day. Now that’s star treatment!

Thanks to Regis MCEs I got to try the new Wella ILLUMINA range, taking my ombre style to the next level of shine and movement. With expert knowledge it’s a cinch to achieve my ideal style, and you can recreate it for yourself thanks to a video with Style Director Jayne Dempsey. You can see from the how-to just why I fell in love with the versatile dip-dye style when done by the pros.

NOURISH YOUR LOCKS

My favourite hair products are those that I can use at home to help keep my hair looking as fantastic as the stylists do, so I swear by Designline Fiji Oil. I use it to keep my hair strong, thick and shiny. It’s really a miracle product, especially since my love of colour changes can leave my hair feel really unhappy with me otherwise. Restoring the lost moisture and vitamins to your hair can mean all the difference betweenmanageable tresses and a misbehaving mop, so I do spoil myself with the right treatments and pampering products as often as I can.

It’s amazing how important being good to yourself can be for your skin and hair too, so I try to be well behaved by drinking lots of water and eating well.

One more thing? Be bold! I’ve always loved experimenting with my look, and I love how fun hairstyling can be… if you make it that way!

Of course, for us it’s all about that fabulous bob hair cut, sleek and coiffured like our new season style The Graduate. But what made the ever-changing, yet always present bob cut stand out to Regis this season?

What we love about Dawn’s take on the bob is the retro chic balanced with modern edges, something our Creative Directors were really excited about when choosing The Graduate as one of the season’s signature looks.

With this year seeing the sad passing of one of hairstyling’s true greats, Vidal Sassoon, there’s few better ways to pay homage to his stunning legacy that celebrating his influence.

Bringing back the bob into contemporary fashion is arguably one of the biggest ways Sassoon made his name. Remember that amazing Mary Quant ‘do? It came from the mind and scissors of the man himself, cementing his name indelibly as an icon of hairstyling and creative vision.

Regis Salons was represented in the Colour Category by Daniel Benson from our Mops salon in Gallowgate, Newcastle – and, wow, he did us proud! Just being part of the final was a brilliant achievement in itself – Daniel won through from the Northern regional heats back in March beating more than 140 other competitors to make it into the top 36.

Nearly 800 of the industry’s finest gathered for an evening of pure entertainment, creativity and hair fashion, culminating with the unveiling of the TrendVision Award 2012 UK & Ireland Winners. This year’s final saw 28 of the UK and Ireland’s most talented young stylists, plus 24 of the UK and Ireland’s most talented colourists battle it out to take home the Gold Award, which started at the Wella Professionals World Studio in London, earlier in the day.

Daniel and his fellow competitors set to work creating a total look for an esteemed panel of judges before the glittering evening event that featured three incredible hair shows from the UK’s hottest hairdressing names.

The evening’s shows kicked off with ‘Making History’ – a three part show featuring a glittering line up of award winning stars. The headline performance poignantly celebrated the legendary Vidal Sassoon, current award-winning talent and a glimpse into the future courtesy of the Wella Professionals Generation NOW team.

The evening was loud, passionate and super creative – a great example of the hair industry and the talent and buzz it has to offer. From the shows, to the competitors taking their bow with their stunning models to the exciting award announcements at the end of the night it was an honour to be there. Athough Daniel and Regis didn’t win on the night we are so very proud he made it to the final and cannot wait until next year to see even more Regis stylists being showcased! Congratulations from Regis Salons to all of the winners and good luck to the GOLD winners in the international final in Madrid at the end of this month.

Hi guys,

I’m Caroline Flack and I’m proud to announce that I’m the new Face of Regis Salon!

Regis is a fantastic brand and well known for beautiful hair and colour and brilliant home care advice so I was honoured when they came to me about working with them. I know from personal experience you really can’t beat a good pamper in a salon and when you visit Regis you certainly get that. The cut and colour they gave me for our fun shoot was amazing. I love to change my hair a lot and luckily the team at Regis fully embrace this!

If I have a bad hair day I feel more self-conscious and it can affect my mood, so it’s really important for me to take care of my hair. What I love about Regis is that, as well as being experts in recreating the latest looks from the catwalks and the red carpet, they really care about great hair.

As the Face of Regis you’ll be seeing a lot more of  me around here over the next few months. I’ve been asked by Regis to provide some blog posts for you to read, so look out for some of my hair tips, as well as some other extra treats, including a Facebook competition which is now live over on the facebook page, exclusive interviews with yours truly, and even how-to video tutorials on re-creating the looks the fabulous team from Regis has given me.

We predicted fringes would be hot for Autumn/Winter 2012 back in May when we shot the collection, and fashion bible Grazia’s fringe feature this week, featuring Jessica Biel who has been looking super sexy with her blunt fringe on the promotional tour for Total Recall, says they agree!

Introducing… THE WILD ONE

Move over James Dean. Step aside Elvis Presley. Marlon Brando? He may have been ‘The Wild One’, but that was back in then. Our Wild One takes those 1950s influences and adds a modern, trendy twist; the era of jailhouse-rocking rebels with quiffs and without causes is updated for 2012.

This style is a hard one to keep down. It’s masculine, rough and rugged, and it commands respect. It’s the kind of style that men love to have, and women love to run their hands through. Get your motor running…

The quiff was born in the Rock ‘n’ Roll era of the 1950s, and was most famously sported by a hip-swiveling Elvis Presley, to the sound of screaming teenage groupies. The quiff has come and gone over the years with shorter versions of the original style making an appearance from time to time. But now, the quiff is back. And it’s bigger, bolder and sexier than ever.

Arctic Monkey’s frontman Alex Turner, as well as James Righton (Mr. Keira Knightley) from the Klaxons, have both been rocking the quiff in 2012 (see images below), and we featured the quiff in one of our latest how-to videos, so if you’re looking to do this yourself at home why not take a look.
