It’s the Royal Wedding today, everyone at Regis HQ can’t wait to see Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot – and more importantly to see how Kate will style her hair! So to celebrate the wedding fever we asked Deepa Tailor, a stylist at our Kingston Upon Thames salon and a member of the Regis Artistic Team, for some style tips on how to create three great looks from our latest video blog…

The first look is a simple and elegant look that anyone at home can master! To create this style I used heated rollers which give the hair bounce and curl. Allow the rollers to cool down for ten minutes before removing them in preparation to style the hair. To make sure your curls stay looking fabulous throughout the day, spritz your locks with Designline Hold Everything Hairspray

The second look is the romantic side-bun, but with a modern twist! To begin you will need to backcomb your hair which will then give you that all important volume and structure to work with. Next, insert a hair doughnut into your locks at the back of your head in the centre. Secure this in place with grips and then begin to dress the hair around it, securing the hair in place as you go. Once completed you’ll have a great bun! To finish, just pin back the sides for a classic look, or leave a few strands of hair loose to frame your face for a more relaxed style.

For the final look, I wanted to show you how to create the timeless classic ballerina bun. To achieve this look first place your hair into a high ponytail making sure the hair is tight. As with the second look, insert a hair doughnut into the hair which will then give you great balance and height. Once again dress the hair around the hair doughnut, securing with grips as you go. For the finishing touches, just spritz your hair with Designline Hold Everything Hairspray and Designline Shine Mist for that extra touch of sparkle!

The Royal Wedding is tomorrow and everyone here at Regis HQ can’t wait to tune in and watch Prince William and Kate Middleton finally tie the knot! Tomorrow every fashionistas questions about what Kate Middleton will wear to say ‘I do’ will be answered – but we just can’t wait to see how Kate will wear her hair! We asked the Regis Artistic Team for the top five hairstyles Kate might opt for tomorrow…

5. At number five we have the messy up ‘do. This style is simple to achieve, yet will give your hair an edgy look! This look has been spotted on the red carpet and has been rocked by one of our hair icons, Fearne Cotton. Teaming her Ombré locks with a messy up ‘do, Fearne gives her hair that all important edge! However, we think Kate might give this hairstyle a miss on the big day – but might keep this style in mind for the after party!

4. From a simple braid to an elegant fishtail plait, this look is a classic and has been a favourite with celebrities in 2010/11. Rocked by the likes of Fearne Cotton and Pixie Lot this style is great to achieve a wide variety of looks. If Kate Middleton chooses to style her hair in a braid, we think she’ll go for timeless, classic plait as worn by the likes of our favourite braid beauty Edith Bowman!

3. In third place we have the gorgeous side bun as worn by our favourite Yummy Mummy – Holly Willoughby! This style is bang-on-trend style and everyone in the celebrity world has rocked this look on the red carpet! It’s a great style that can be created for either a day in the office or a night out with the girls. Even those this a classic style which suits everyone, even Kate Middleton, we think Kate might save this style for those relaxed summer evenings!

2. In at number two we have the side bun’s elegant counterpart, the chignon! This chignon is a beautiful, timeless hairstyle which instantly adds that all important chic to any look. The chignon is a favourite choice with celebrities on the red carpet – Lauren Conrad is certainly a fan and she looks fabulous with her classic chignon! We think the chignon is a definite contender in the run up to the Royal Wedding…

1. Ever since Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement back in November, rumours about how Kate Middleton will wear her hair have been numerous. However, the same style keeps popping up again and again, and it seems to be the firm favourite for tomorrow. And what is the top secret style you ask?! Well it’s simple, classic, elegant and more importantly Kate Middleton always looks fabulous when she chooses this style. Yes… it’s wearing her hair down! Kate has the glossy, shiny hair we all dream of and it looks stunning when she wears it in this relaxed style!

Well there you have it – the top five hairstyles we think Kate Middleton might choose for her big day! We’re going to be covering the Royal Wedding live tomorrow, so why not join us in the hair debate on our Facebook page or Tweet us?!

There was a time when the centre parting was considered very unfashionable and just downright boring! However, Spring 2011 has been the season to pull this trend back out of the 70s and onto the hottest celebrities. Even Kate Middleton is joining us with her off-centre ‘do, but can you pull it off? We asked Claire Palmer, a stylist at our Deansgate salon and a member of the Regis Artistic Team, for her thoughts on the classic centre parting…

One of the latest celebrities seen stepping out with the centre fold parting is Gossip Girls’ Leighton Meester. Here we see Leighton wearing the centre parting with style. The singer and actress has opted for a super smooth and straight style, reminiscent of Burberry’s latest catwalk models. The sleek look is given movement at the root area, which is vital for this trend. Smooth is in, flat is out! To recreate this style in the salon I would blow dry the hair using Designline Powder Boost and apply it in inch sections throughout the hair. Next use a paddle brush to gently smooth the hair around the head, this will create a smooth texture whilst also encouraging body through the root area.

Also wearing the trend, but with a glamorous twist, is Amy Adams. The auburn actress has modernised the Jessica Rabbit look, by creating a centrefold parting rather than the usual sweeping side parting. This, along with the sultry waves opens up Amy’s face and creates beautiful symmetry. This look is becoming extremely popular within the salons, and on the red carpet. To create the soft wave the mid-lengths and ends of the hair should be curled, using a large barrelled tong. Style secret! It’s all about the direction! All hair should be curled in the same direction. The curls can then be brushed out in the same direction, using a soft bristle brush. This will create beautiful waves, perfect for any night out!

Drew Barrymore has always been one to break the mould. Here she looks fabulous working the centre parting, alongside rocker roots. The star’s bohemian look is one that can be worn by all of us, perfect for that ‘next day’ styling. Recreate this look using our fabulous Designline Texture Tousle.

As we’ve seen from these celebrities, the centre parting can work for anyone! This style is suitable for all lengths and hair types. The centre parting is worn best on an oval, square or round face shapes. However, those with a longer face shape, such as style icon Sarah Jessica Parker, can still wear this trend, simply by incorporating soft waves into the mid-lengths and ends of the hair. This will create a balanced look. At last, a trend we can all try! Try teaming your new centre parting with this season’s wide leg trousers and soft make up. Accessorize your bohemian locks with braids, flowers and bands for the ultimate in hippy revival!

One of the hottest hair trends for Summer 2011 is dip dye hair! We asked Angela Logan, a stylist at our St Enoch’s salon in Glasgow and a member of the Regis Artistic Team, for her thoughts on this year’s daring dip dye ‘dos…

Dip dye hair has been around for years now! It has changed a lot over the last 2 years,it used to be a ‘dipped’ look about the hair using colours such as pink, blue and green.

But recently we have seen celebrities like Nicki Minaj rocking the rainbow colours once more as dip dye is making a comeback! It’s not only Nicki Minaj who has dared the dip dye, Lady Gaga rocked dip dye hair last year at the 2010 MTV Awards where she donned the fanous ‘meat dress’!

However, if the rainbow dip dye hair is a little too vivid we have Ombré hair which gives a more subtle bohemian/surfer look. Celebrities such as Alexa Chung, Drew Barrymore and Fearne Cotton have been seen to rock this look this year.

The dip dye/Ombré look is the most popular style in Regis salons at the minute as it’s a low maintenance look which still looks good all year round. I’m certain dip dye hair will be around for a longtime and whether it’s extreme or subtle I love this year’s hottest look!

Braided hair has come back with a bang this Spring! As seen on the likes of Emily Blunt, Pixie Lott, Edith Bowman and even on the runway as part of the Valentino Spring/Summer 2011 collection, it’s clear to see braided hair is back. We asked Jayne Dempsey – a stylist at our salon in the Trafford Centre in Manchester and a member of the Regis Artistic Team – for her top tips on how you can create beautiful braided hair…

Laid back and slack or tight to the scalp, braids are the ultimate way to accessorise your locks this spring and look perfect with this seasons clothing trend ‘flixing’ -floral pattern mixing!

Here are my top tips to create the perfect dishevelled braid as seen on Pixie Lott herself.
1. Back comb all hair at the root area
2. Sweep hair to one side and braid
3. Secure with a clear fine plastic band
4. Gently pull out various sections of the plait giving a messy chic finish

Can’t get the hang of braiding? Don’t worry! You can still create a beautiful braid – there are plenty of clip-in braids available which will help you create your look in all shapes and colours, for a quick and easy cheat!

Pssst! We won’t tell anyone…
